PC users spout so much hate, yet want to be like us.

its all so sad.. they use crap sw on crap hw and then have the balls to say "macs suck" I am one of those people that hate the pc side even more than they hate us. windows is a bad bad os. I would rather use a commodore 64. seriously. the pc world is just a cookie cutting machine...

Ram or CPU First? [G4 Sawtooth 350]

any mac since the rev. B B&W supports slaves with the logic board ide controller. in simpler language you're good to go. I use an ata/33 controller with a 7200 rpm 8mb buffer drive and its snappy. benchmarks have proven over and over that anything over ata 33 or 66 is hardly ever going to be...

    How to record audio streams????

wiretap is simple and free. it will record any audio on your system. I recently used wiretap to turn a live bjork dvd I have into a live bjork audio track for my ipod mini. :) saves as .aiff and then just convert to mp3 or aac with itunes.

Ram or CPU First? [G4 Sawtooth 350]

ram is the cheapest way to upgrade an older system. I went from 512 up to 1gb about 3 months back and I can really feel a difference especially when I have 5+ apps open. you're lucky to have a sawtooth because they have many viable upgrade options. you can go up to 1.7ghz G4 now with the...

What would I need to connect a 17" CRT monitor with a 20" Cinema Display?

so this means that this poor guy has to use 2 adapters? thats crap! he will need adc to dvi that comes with it to hook the 20" and then a dvi to vga also? I guess apple forgets that people still use crt's. I feel they are far superior displays to lcd. high end crt's anyway..

What would I need to connect a 17" CRT monitor with a 20" Cinema Display?

newest apple displays use dvi and not adc. hooking any kind of display is possible though. all you need is the right adapter. you would need adc to vga for the crt since the 20" will go on the dvi. it may come with the adapter.. I assume there are adc to vga adapters yes?

    tiger - finder

I used launchbar about 2 weeks before I started using quicksilver and after I switched I never looked back. qs is far more elegant and can be set to open files also. it can find files, bookmarks and apps as well as many other functions. many would agree with me that its one of the best...

    tiger - finder

a little open source app called quicksilver is far more useful than the panther/tiger style finder. it integrates perfectly in the os. I have it setup so I just press F8 and then type the first 1-3 letters (mostly finds what I want in one or two) and its there. I now use the mouse less which...

    Whats on your desktop?

I don't get all you people with icons all over your dt. it defeats the whole purpose of the panther/tiger finder! at least quicksan knows whats up. :) here is mine (I run my dt @ 1600x1200 but had to shrink it way down to get under 100k):

    Recommended DVD-R

best thing is to get anything cheap for common burning but the stuff thats really important to you should be put on something a bit higher in quality. hp, verbatum, imation are all good quality.

Newest known Tiger build: Mac OS X 10.4.3 8F8

but why have 2 features that both draw power/speed from the same video card? they would slow each other down since they both pretty much just run on the video card. its logical to say that qe will eventually be phased out since the new technology could take care of both duties more efficient...
