What is the point of the 'services' item in the application menu? I would like to do the occaisional screen grab, but but grab is ALWAYS grayed out. I have to launch it separately, then do it from within grab. Why bother with a 'services' menu that does not ever allow one to access services?

Ha! found it. I was confused, as the desktop/screensaver panel would not show a picture of the current image, but it DID show the name. Searched for that - no hits. Followed a hunch and set types to visible/invisible and found it! Thanks for your help.

Bob - thanks for replying. Not there though (checked under both the system library, and the user/library. Nothing. Just the original generic desktop pictures that shipped with osx. Did a general search for 'desktop pictures' and found some cache files that won't open in a graphic app, but...

A few weeks ago, I found a great picture on a website (AVWEB) that I wanted to set to my desktop. I control-clicked on it in Safari, and chose 'set as desktop picture', and voila - it is. Now, I would like to replace it, but I want to save this picture. Problem is, I don't know what the OS...

Seriously - this behaviour is driving me nuts. Not least of the reasons why, is that MacOSX (or at least this default program) did this apparerently uncommanded. (At least uncommanded by me) I would like to understand WHY!!

Just trashed the plist - same behaviour.

Albloom - yes, I have done all but 'flush' the prefs. By this I take it you mean delete the plist. Will give that a shot, but I HAVE run 'preferential treatment' over the HD, and those prefs passed.

DVD player developed 'personality' a while back. It used to play DVD's full screen on my 15" pb. Now, it plays in a little window, and if I go 'max size' then 'full screen' it enlarges it somewhat, but not to the edges of the screen. Widescreen used to extend right to the left and right...

Ok, I 'upgraded' iDVD to version 5, and tried my first burn last night. Captured a VHS movie into iMovie HD, created chapters and sent it to iDVD. I used a 4.0 theme (the theater one, with the markee), and checked on the map - all looked good. Preview looked good. Told it to burn. It...

double clicking just switches it to 'full screen mode' - same as choosing that from the video menu. The problem is that 'full screen' is no longer 'full screen' as it used to be. The video image takes up only a portion of the screen, and there are thick black borders (wasted real estate)...
