    Extending range of wireless network

I have a Siemens wireless router. We just moved into a larger home, and the unit in the basement cannot reach effectively to all corners upstairs. In fact, reception is generally poor away from the basement. Is there a way to extend the range of such a system? I know that airport is supposed...

    Services (GRAB) Always grayed out...

What is the point of the 'services' item in the application menu? I would like to do the occaisional screen grab, but but grab is ALWAYS grayed out. I have to launch it separately, then do it from within grab. Why bother with a 'services' menu that does not ever allow one to access services?

    Where are desktop pictures stored?

Ha! found it. I was confused, as the desktop/screensaver panel would not show a picture of the current image, but it DID show the name. Searched for that - no hits. Followed a hunch and set types to visible/invisible and found it! Thanks for your help.

    Where are desktop pictures stored?

Bob - thanks for replying. Not there though (checked under both the system library, and the user/library. Nothing. Just the original generic desktop pictures that shipped with osx. Did a general search for 'desktop pictures' and found some cache files that won't open in a graphic app, but...

    Where are desktop pictures stored?

A few weeks ago, I found a great picture on a website (AVWEB) that I wanted to set to my desktop. I control-clicked on it in Safari, and chose 'set as desktop picture', and voila - it is. Now, I would like to replace it, but I want to save this picture. Problem is, I don't know what the OS...

    DVD player wierdness - 10.3.9

Seriously - this behaviour is driving me nuts. Not least of the reasons why, is that MacOSX (or at least this default program) did this apparerently uncommanded. (At least uncommanded by me) I would like to understand WHY!!

    DVD player wierdness - 10.3.9

Albloom - yes, I have done all but 'flush' the prefs. By this I take it you mean delete the plist. Will give that a shot, but I HAVE run 'preferential treatment' over the HD, and those prefs passed.

    DVD player wierdness - 10.3.9

DVD player developed 'personality' a while back. It used to play DVD's full screen on my 15" pb. Now, it plays in a little window, and if I go 'max size' then 'full screen' it enlarges it somewhat, but not to the edges of the screen. Widescreen used to extend right to the left and right...

    mail.app won't send!

JMV - turns out that my ISP was blocking port 25 - they insisted we use their outgoing mail server. Would have been nice if they actually informed us of that first! Thanks for your response though!

    iDVD 5 - Burns Coasters!

Ok, I 'upgraded' iDVD to version 5, and tried my first burn last night. Captured a VHS movie into iMovie HD, created chapters and sent it to iDVD. I used a 4.0 theme (the theater one, with the markee), and checked on the map - all looked good. Preview looked good. Told it to burn. It...

    DVD Player won't full screen

double clicking just switches it to 'full screen mode' - same as choosing that from the video menu. The problem is that 'full screen' is no longer 'full screen' as it used to be. The video image takes up only a portion of the screen, and there are thick black borders (wasted real estate)...

    DVD Player won't full screen

DVD player used to full screen movies no problem. Lately, it now has the movie playing in a small area of the screen (15" powerbook). If I manually go 'maximum size', then full screen - it increases the size of the movie, but not all the way to full screen - where it used to be. I cannot...

    Copy DVD disk from Finder?

    >> another is to start from your iDVD project and burn a copy again.>> Sadly, I have to delete them after I am finished, as the imovie files take up way too much space. In fact that is why I moved them to DVD in the first place - to get them off the computer.

    Copy DVD disk from Finder?

I have some DVD's that I created in iDVD (Non commercial, non copywrighted), that I would like to duplicate. Can I just copy them over to a DVD-R? (I have a superdrive obviously). If so will they be playable with meuns etc in a DVD player? If not, then what is the best way to do this. I...

    mail.app won't send!

Hmmm - tried that. It didn't help. The mail was moved to a 'delivered' folder, when a new outbox was created. I opened up the messages and re-sent them. Same thing, they just timed out 'trying to connect' on port 25. I lost all my other accounts (my wife, has a couple of accounts on this...
