Well here I am, I have just installed a replacement drive - an ATA 160gb Maxtor. Its improved 10 fold, I dont get the spinning wheel, its quite and doesnt make a nasty scratching sound, and its fast!! A very happy bunny! Thankyou to all that helped me and gave me good advice. Elliot Newman.

I have a G4 MDD 1.25, and after going onto the apple site and downloading the manuals I read that the hard drive is ATA/100, I have just bought an ATA/133 - will it be ok? or have I made a blunder? Thanks, E.

yeah I realise its been discussed here a few times before. its just that if there is another G4 powerbook release then this would meen an even longer wait for a G5 than first anticipated.

Ok, here is an update: After spending a good amount of time backing up my data I inserted the OSX install cd and started up with it. I opened disk utility and erased the hard drive. I then restarted and chose under the options to zero all data. This process got about half way through and...
