    Charging the iPod

There is a Power Adapter available from Apple for charging the iPod, or, for significantly less money (but a much less elegant solution) is to get a powered USB hub and plug the iPod into it.

    Having Problems with iPod Video

jonparadise; could you give me a screenshot (Cmd+Shift+4, then drag a selection) of where the checkbox is? I couldn't find it, so went to iSync. Which is fine, since I'm on Panther, so iSync still does something useful.

    Having Problems with iPod Video

Yeah, I have APE running for one APE module. I know the problems it can cause (but I really like having the Services menu in my contextual menus :P). I determined that the problem is actually with some album art. When I realised I didn't have album art on the iPod, I deselected "View Album Art...

    Having Problems with iPod Video

I'm not impressed. I was given a 60GB white iPod Video for Christmas, and it hasn't yet worked as advertised ONCE. I was a bit confused that it came Windows formatted, but restoring it to HFS+ with the latest iPod Software was easy enough. Then iTunes picked it up, and started filling it with...

    cut files / rename files

I agree that Cut is an annoying missing feature in OS X when you're used to Windows. Another good way to move things is to drag the file to the dock, then navigate to the folder you want to go to, and Cmd+Drag the file or folder out of the Dock into that folder.

Help with color profiles in Photoshop

The colours would match in Safari if the colour profile was set to the one your monitor uses. Safari is the only browser which actually knows how to use the colour profiles in PNG files. Sadly, Adobe still chooses to colour-manage documents by default, and save the colour profiles into PNG...

    UI Design

Apple owns all its little shiny buttons and every other bitmap that encompasses the programs they design, just as they own the code underneath it and all the icons that adorn it. They most definitely do NOT want just anyone to create an OS X looking app for Windows. Even iTunes uses the Windows...

    Resolving External IP address Internally

I have a Netgear DG834G router which is set up to update my DynDNS.org account with my current IP address so that other people can resolve my iMac's hosted webpages. Inbound port 80 requests are forwarded to the iMac and that all works a treat. The problem, though, is that I'd like to be...

a:hover IE Mac Bug, and scrolling bugs

HateEternal: yeah, it sucks; but you can't disregard a large number of people that COULD otherwise access your site; just like you can't program purely for Firefox on PCs just because PC users *can* choose it over IE. The best thing to do is have a JavaScript alert on your page if the user agent...

WorldTV replacement IceGuide for Dashboard is out

Sir Staunch: AusTV is just the old, old, OLD version of WorldTV (now ICE TV). It won't continue to work, since the developer (iSlayer.net) doesn't intend to keep uploading Aussie feed data. He has said he'll keep the UK feeds updated for as long as possible. The change to the new layout is a...

    17" Laptop Display Off Center

There is no such thing as a Titanium 17" Powerbook. It's either an Aluminium 17" or a 15" Titanium.

    WPA Personal with 10.2.8?

I personally wouldn't stand for using Jaguar these days. WPA is only one of a slew of actually useful kernel features that weren't implemented then.

    Finding IP addresses

Get the MAC addresses of the WAP11s and tell the router's DHCP page to always assign certain IPs to those devices (though I don't see why they should need IPs at all, or would have them). Most routers' "attached devices" page will tell you all about every attached network device (reported by...

can eclipse be used for .net develop??

IIRC, VS.net needs XP, yeah? In which case, you'll need to look at some of the nifty tutorials for switching off unneeded services (look at http://techrepublic.com.com/i/tr/downloads/home/windows_xp_services_that_can_be_disabled.pdf {log-in details if required...

    PHP scripts not executing

Does your location bar read file:// or http://? Because if it reads "file://" anything, it's not passing through Apache, and that means PHP isn't getting parsed. Make sure Apache is on, and then run http://localhost/ or http://127.0.0.1/ to see the actual served files.

can eclipse be used for .net develop??

But the advantages of VB is the GUI development programs (heck, VB code is pretty much NOTHING). If you really want to program in .Net, you need to get a PC, or cope with the very, very slow VPC.
