    iBook screen dissolving

Update: I found a helpful thread on Apple's support page regarding what sounds like an identical problem occuring with many people's machines. Has anyone on this board suffered from the same problem? It looks like I'll have to replace the logic board. Here is the link to the page.

    iBook screen dissolving

Oh, I've seen the pretty kernel panic, mind you :) This dissolving is quite different. The screen's image seems to suddenly begin dissolving like a crappy PowerPoint transition, and fading to a bright whitish color (I say color because there are shades of pastel in this white) with vertical...

Going away to college, hoping to buy a Mac. Which do I need?

I have an iBook and I am in love with it. I take it to every class and use it for notes, but I also use it for Photoshopping and such. It runs well and w/ enough RAM isn't slow. Mine isn't working at the moment, but that's a whole other story :-\

    iBook screen dissolving

I was taking notes in my lecture on Thursday when the screen on my iBook 700 randomly appeared to dissolve and fade. With the system clearly frozen, I rebooted, and nothing happened after the startup sound. Forcing another restart, the system booted up and worked fine... for five minutes, and...

How to stop iPod from updating?

I have the same problem with my iPod since I updated to the new software. I really have noticed a change in power consumption, and it's really annoying. Is it possible for me to go back to the previous release? I'll probably lose calendar features though, right?

SBC Owns Patent on Menu Bar Links

Wow... I first designed a website with a 'structured' navigation system back in 1998, when I first got into web design. This was most likely because I considered it natural and obvious, or because I had seen it on TEN MILLION sites by then. This is one of the more pathetic patents I have ever...

sooooo when will iChat be updated?

I use the product, along with AOL's relatively impressive AIM off and on. It really depends on what I'm doing... the ease of file transfer, and the no-brainer interface have won me over as favorite when i don't need a huge buddy list (i have a close group of friends on my .mac list, and 160 on...

Now, imagine if Apple worked off of the concept attempted in the Windows screenshot... and actually made it look nice!

How big is your MP3 collection?

When AAC support arrives on the iPod, I'll definitely be re-building my library. There will of course be converters available, if they don't already exist, but there is an inherent problem in going from compression to compression. The most simple way I can explain it is in terms of images...

How big is your MP3 collection?

4502 songs, 320:44:48, 28.97GB = 13 days of music. Many of these were ripped at 320kbps, using AudioCatalyst and the Xing encoder. This was back in the day when I thought mp3s would be perfect as long as I set the bitrate high enough (boy, I can't wait for AAC/mp4 support on the iPod... I'll...

    Is it possible?

To buy anything but a digital camera with the intent of digital editing reflects an impatient discision, and I would HIGHly recommend against it. You will immediately regret it once you realize how difficult it is to work with an analog camera in a non-linear environment. Things that are easy...

the answer to the Tablet PC

Whoever said, "why bother with the iPod when the tablet will hold more tunes," I really hope I don't need to answer that. But just in case: It fits in my pocket. As a student at Western Michigan University (I don't know if anyone else here is qualified to speak from the perspective of a...

Are you a full time OS X user yet?

I don't even have OS 9 installed anymore, but I've been lucky enough to have all my software upgraded through work, otherwise I'd be using Classic occasionally.

    iPod competition--with removable media & USB 2.0

I would love to have a sweet interface to my car stereo, or simply a iPod that is for my car... white and brushed metal faceplate... oooooh :)

    iPod competition--with removable media & USB 2.0

"Dear xaqintosh," (as I'm sure will follow soon), "Don't you know that the only reason iPod owners like iPods is because they are Apple loyalists and they'll buy anything Apple sells them? Never mind that many non-apple fanatics love the iPod too... Dear xaqintosh, you just failed business...

    iPod competition--with removable media & USB 2.0

I suppose that I was coming from the perspective that Apple typically doesn't offer something that somebody has a use for, they offer products that most people have a use for. At this time, nobody I know is more interested in removable storage on their iPod. The technology for higher...

    iPod competition--with removable media & USB 2.0

I must agree. I think the iPod does exactly what it is expected to do. I don't see the need for removable storage an such a device... I would be annoyed by having another drive bay opening. If you need such features, why not get a competitors product?
