Energy Saver - Not saving settings

I've been trying to set the "Settings for" to Battery Power in Energy Saver but it doesn't seem to remember the setting when I go back in later. It automatically resets to Power Adapter every time. Am I not working it properly or is there a problem? --- 15" Titanium Powerbook 1GHz, 1GB...

Powerbook Battery - No low battery alert window

I've recently tried to drain the battery by having the computer run off the battery until it goes to sleep...then I went too far and had it forced shut down. Ever since that incident my battery guage isn't calculating the times correctly. I could used to go down to 20 mins until the battery...

How can I re-enable the low battery warning window at 9 minutes? My Powerbook still goes to sleep on its own at 20 minutes without warning.

Use battery or A/C? - Powerbook

OK, I've tried to drain the battery completely yesterday and now it's not working properly. I used the battery until the low warning window showed up, then continued using the computer until it went to sleep then after a few hours later it shut down. That's the way to drain the battery...

Use battery or A/C? - Powerbook

When the computer is in the sleep mode doesn't it draw power from the battery? Then isn't it better to shut down the computer and have the battery fully recharge? What's the proper way to completely discharge the battery then fully recharge it?

Use battery or A/C? - Powerbook

I've noticed that the computer gets hotter (the fan kicks in more often) when the A/C power is plugged in. Maybe it's not the way to go afterall... Any thoughts?

Use battery or A/C? - Powerbook

Thanks for all the advice. So here is what I gathered. Plugging in the A/C is fine as long as the battery is cycled (completely discharged then charged) once in a while. Or even cycling the battery is not necessary? How do I know when the battery is completely discharged? Is it only by the...

    DVD Burning Tips

Can anyone give me any tips on burning a DVD-R from my 15" Titanium Powerbook (1GHz, 1GB ram, 60GB drive, superdrive)? I have gigs of data that I want to store on a DVD instead of separate CD-Rs. - Is it necessary to disable "sleep mode" when I'm burning the DVD? - Can I use the computer...

    Portable Storage Device - Powerbook

I'm hoping to purchase a portable storage device that can transfer images to (without a computer) from SmartMedia/CompactFlash cards, and also act as an external hard drive to backup data from my Powerbook from time to time. I've looked into the X-Drive II, but I believe it's only USB? I...

USB 2.0 on a Mac? Need Clarification...

Does a Mac support USB 2.0 transfers? I'm rather new to the Mac environment and I recently bought a Titanium Powerbook (15" screen, 1GHz, 1GB Ram, Mac OS 10.2.6). Can somebody clarify if my system supports USB 2.0 devices with USB 2.0 transfer rates? I'm planning to buy a USB 2.0 card...

    Sort & List Files/Folders

Yeah, that's the problem. If I sort by "kind" it would put JPEGs together, ZIPs together...etc. I only want folders to be together and then files to be together, then sorted alphabetically. I guess there isn't a way to select a folder and have all the contents Viewed as List? Sad to hear...

    Sort & List Files/Folders

I have a couple hundred subfolders and thousands of files in one folder. I'm a PC user so I'm so used to working in the format where the folders are listed first and the files afterwards. Sorted alphabetically. Can this be done in Mac OS 10.2.6? Is there any way I can select this entire...

HOW-TO: View as list for folder/subfolders

I've been doing what you've suggested all along. To go into a folder just one way. The "View as List" setting doesn't change once I've told it to view as a list, but how to I make all the subfolders and sub-subfolders to be all "View as List"? I have hundreds or maybe thousands of...

HOW-TO: View as list for folder/subfolders

Is there a way to have one selected folder (including files and subfolders) to be viewed as list? I'd like my personal folder to be "view as list" but leave the Mac OS X system folders to be "view as icons". I'm currently running Mac OS 10.2.6. Thanks in advance!

    Safari & Java 1.4.1

I guess I should rephrase my question. I was wondering why only 1 (the Java Plug-in for Cocoa) was updated to version 1.4.1 and the rest are 1.3.1. Is there a way to update the other two to 1.4.1 or it won't do that? I'm trying to update any possible Java-related items on the browser so I...

    Safari & Java 1.4.1

I've recently downloaded and installed Java 1.4.1 using the Software Update in the System Preferences. Although when I go into my Safari browser and look under "Installed Plug-Ins" it still lists the "Java Plug-in (CFM) and Java Plug-in" to still be version 1.3.1. Although the listing below...
