Guys, I have a problem with Spotlight (Finder level) that I cannot seem to solve. I have been trying to get it to find the URLs that are in my Safari Bookmarks. I have forced Spotlight to reindex my entire drive, but doing the "adding the hard drive to Private then removing it" trick...

I think it was MajorBurns that said "I don't like "Show All" being in front of my top hit in Spotlight." Well, this bugs me too. Is there ANY way to get the Show All option to appear after the Top Hit?

Hey all, I just want to take a consensus. Do any of you use spotlight at all? I understand why and how its cool....but for me I set up my mac so that I dont need spotlight using aliases etc.... I did try to put it into my routine today launching photoshop from it .... but it took 3 characters...

Hmmm, when I click on a folder after a spotlight search in the results window- it launches the trial version Entourage - any way to stop this besides deleted Entourage which I don't use anyway so don't know why I haven't already deleted it <marvin> :rolleyes:

Have tried trashing all prefs, .Spotlight-V100, repairing disk and permissions. I can add any item as long as it is not on the boot volume. I've seen references all over the place for privacy issues, but not this one. Thanks for any ideas.

Does spotlight index mounted OSX Server volumes? I noticed it didn't automatically index it and then i noticed i couldn't 'exclude' it from being indexed so i'm assuming it doesn't recognise this kind of voulme?

Ok Tiger is great (gr-r-reat — sorry!). I like the new spotlight search, works well. The problem I have just run in to though, is in the system preferences. I could initially open the sys prefs and type something into the spotlight box there, all items go dim and a light becomes brighter...

When is Spotlight Indexing? i know that new items automatically added, but how does one re-index? If you leave you mac on, it uses the cpu time to continue indexing... but how can you tell?

I've noticed spotlight does not index my .php files. This is strange as they are plain text files and spotlight does index my .txt files. I thought apple had done away with the micro$oft approach of considering the file extension as the sole source of info for a file. Anyone noticed...
