    Palm 5 OS!

I don't disagree, but I will say that the PowerPC G3 chip in laptops is not too power hungry or heat intensive and, engineering permitting, could be--within the next two years--put into a PDA in the right configuration to work. As for power consumption, hog-wash.... they are constantly...

    MAC OS X Update

Well, technically it is free. They just gouge you on the "shipping and handling." I picked mine up (as did a lot of folks) from my local Mac store on the day it was released to them -- the $20 is to have Apple SEND you one. But, yes, it DOES suck! And SHOULD be available as a download too!

    Palm 5 OS!

Exactly, nothing. I never said it did. I said I wonder *IF* a Palm could run on a PowerPC chip"; I never said that the article had anything to do with my optimistic thought -- it just SPARKED it. If Palm is considering alternative chips (non-Dragonball) then why not a PowerPC solution...

    Palm 5 OS!

Read this interesting article about Palm's future: http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_Story.asp?ID=2965 I wonder if a Palm could run on a PowerPC chip with an emulator of a mini-Mac OS X layer ... dreamin'

iPhoto - where are my pix??

They're in there. Look in the iPhoto Library/2001/[month]/[day]/ folders. The "Thumb" folders merely contain thumnail pix for quick scanning of the albums. The "Albums" folder contains DATA about the Album (which pix are in which albums, what (if any) comments are added to the pix, etc.) I...

    NetBarrier

Mine works fine. You must have a corrupt registration file. You can also update to v. 10.0.1 (from 10.0.0).

    slow start-up, install...

A lot of people have emailed me asking me about this very problem. While there may be multiple causes for network start-up problems, I am aware of a specific incident that is caused by the port scan order of ACTIVE ports listed in the Network Preference Pane (TCP/IP settings). Try...

    Why is Office so bad?

Yes, it is my understanding that a Service Pack will be released shortly (which may or may not contain Palm X conduits [Palm's fault]).

    AOL Ignorance

AOL sucks! It is THE next Mi¢ro$oft. Be forewarned, those dependent on this evil beast. Gobble Gobble -- no more Time Warner. Long live FREE internet (or at least high-quality DSL supported ISPs like Mindspring, Earthlink, etc.!!!)

    XFree86, Gimp, AbiWord, & Upgrades

I had trouble installing Gimp 1.2.3 from OpenOSX.com. Not as easy as they promised. Didn't save me as much time as I thought because of the problems. I've heard a few others that felt the same way. BUT I've heard others say that liked OpenOSX versions (obviously pre 1.2.3 of Gimp) and that...

    Proud To Announce

I love ya Ed (no, not THAT way) but I'm going to disagree with you for the first (or second?) time ever -- I'm not a big fan of Trash X. It's slow and is really a separate app. If you're going to have an app running, why not use Drag Thing? It's much better for Trash Can use (and is useful in...

Are these OS 9 Extensions still necessary?!

Cleaning House ... I've noticed for some time (though I've done nothing about it) that there are a few extensions that don't seem to be lumped with my 9.1 - 9.2.2 OS 9 extensions under Conflict Catcher. They appear as random extensions that aren't linked to anything. Thus, my question is...

    Palm Can Suck My Handspring!

Check this out (another image on Palm.com's Mac area): Pleeeezze! Soul mates my a$$ (we're the LAST to get anything with Palm)! Hey Palm! If Palm is such a supporter of Apple then why do we have to pay simply for the ability to hotsync with our Macs??!!! ("Stay in sync with a...

    OS X 10.1.3 Seeded

Yup, that's still the deal. 1.1.3 will probably be available before the end of February. Not too much longer. Some new fixes: added drivers for third-party USB and FireWire devices (e.g., digital cameras and printers). Other things too. The Update describes some of the new features...
