What will be updated in PhotoShop 8?

Hi toast, how do mean EPS and TIFF may be merged? Encapsulated Postscript and Tagged Image Format embedded in the same image, wouldn't that make large files? How would LZW fit with EPS? That would have Quark tearing their hair out - or perhaps that's the plan!

    PhotoStitcher for OS X

Their website seems very bitty and doesn't appear to offer much info for Mac users. Looks best to contact the company directly.

Bulk scanning of photo prints and Photoshop actions

Good guess, as of 12.45 Sunday $0.40 is £0.24458. R-Name that bobw found looks like it might do part of the trick but you still need to get the photos scanned in and named first? Doesn't everybody with an 'r' or two in their first name get 'zz' substituted? Gary is nearly always Gazza...

Bulk scanning of photo prints and Photoshop actions

Provided the pics are always in the same place for the original scan, of course! However, I've just had a look at some photos that came back from the chemist and not all of them are the same size, looks like they were guillotined in batches of five. So a little cropping is probably in order...

Bulk scanning of photo prints and Photoshop actions

Larry says he's already looked at the Scanjet. It's a consumer-level scanner and doesn't really produce professional enough images.

Bulk scanning of photo prints and Photoshop actions

All I do is scan as many shots as I can fit on the glass as one file then copy & paste into a new doc and save it. No cropping is necessary then. Set the marquee tool to a fixed size of your photos, move it from pic to pic for copying and you should be okay. The original scan takes a little...

New "Hard Drive Update" in System Update

Maybe they've just discovered that something in OSX eats hard drives and panicked this 'update' out to cure it.:D Heh - shouldn't even joke about that, the thought turns my spine to jelly!

    Safari and wmode = transparent

Back to animated gifs, then. This isn't new; I've had this problem on and off for years. A bit of a penalty as anime gifs usually weigh a lot more than swfs and look ropey in comparison.

    Safari and wmode = transparent

Hi drustar, have you found out how to make this work yet?

Here's one of the pages, unfortunately I neglected to take notes of the other links I found. http://uk.srd.yahoo.com/S=11111254:WS1/R=2/K=Digital+VAT+Directive/*-http://www.publishers.org.uk/paweb/paweb.nsf/0/BD213DEBD5B73E6B80256C36003E3138?opendocument

    UK news article

For those of us hungry to read everything, here's a more favourable response in the UK to Apple's latest move as opposed to all the bench-mark bashing that's been going on, but Quark loses out again: http://news.independent.co.uk/digital/features/story.jsp?story=420946

    Font Book...

So, can anyone say that FontBook will eventually become an alternative for Font Reserve and Suitcase? Or is it just something to play around with using Apple's own apps? As mindbend said, it'll need to work across all progs to be useful - then it might give Extensis and Diamondsoft cause to...

    Vat

Any of us who produce documents for web distribution and get paid for it should read up. I'll have to get someone to break it down into Plain English though! Giaguara, my motto: if in doubt, pay up - at least after the Gov have made their 30 billion interest on our money, we get our piddlin'...

    Vat

Faaaaaantastic! Just what we all need - VAT on digital services from July 1. This'll kill off a new client and probably kybosh some of my future income. Typical, today is the first I've heard about it. Now I know why an established client has put their web site to sleepy-bye. So that makes...

    CNN shows another G5 encolure!

Never mind the Mac, I love Google's translation method: "The contests of speed of the computers are run with cars from 64 bit, and the PowerPC G5, in this moment, is the computer from faster table of the world!"

    Apple just doesn't get it.

I purchase gear for my business. As ugly as the new G5 is (to me - Jonathan Ive must have been strangled with all those airholes) nothing will stop me buying the top-of-the-range version at these prices: 3 years ago: 450GHz DP, 768 ram, 30GB HD, SCSI card, no Superdrive, standard video...

Opinions of the G5's case design

What the hell is that thing?? It's good job it comes with iTunes, because it's definately a 1950 radio - without the dial. But so what - that won't stop me buying it in September.

    PDF File Size Compressor

There is a PDF compressor app available, the demo was on the cover disc of either MacFormat or Macworld sometime in the last six months. I can't remember the name but I'll keep looking. I did test it and a achieved 20% or so reduction in PDF size but it wasn't enough for me so I trashed the demo.

    Safari and wmode = transparent

I get the same result as profx, with IE 5.2.2 (5010.1) and Flashplayer 6. I've just tried it on the PC (WinXP Pro, IE 6.0.2600.0) and the transparency works fine there. By the way, the PC is on a 56k dial-up modem, the Mac is 512k cable and the page renders quicker than either browser on...
